Introduction for Family Stories

One hundred and fifty years has passed since the first of my ancestors arrived in this country. During that time they all suffered the trials of survival in a strange country, each with their own story of success. Some happy while others are very sad, but each an interesting historical story of conditions and events in their lives.

Over the years I have accumulated a number of stories from interviews with family members and my intent of this page is to present them for what they are, memories, not the hum-drum facts required of genealogy. Each month, (time permitting), a different family will be selected and appear here with a few pictures, so you will want to check back frequently - your family may be next.

This month's featured family member is Rosa K. Richter, my grandfather's sister. An interesting story derived from news articles and family lore. A story of failed ambitions during the "Great Depression" of the 30's.

I hope you enjoy this new feature and if you would like to contribute either your family story or pictures for a future presentation, please contact me.
