This is the flat section of the cemetery, prior to digging the sod off the stones.

The same flat section of the cemetery, this time looking toward the tree instead of away from it.

Andy begins dragging some of the excess sod off to the side of the cemetery where he throws it down a bank. Later we discover we put the sod in the same location the stones were once thrown!

Andy bags some of the sod that needed to be removed so we could leave the area neat and tidy.

After much digging, Nora starts to gently brush away the dirt so we can begin transcribing.

Andy gets tired and sits down to take a break. There's still a LOT of cleanup to do! Nora and I have used baby powder on a few of the stones to make the writing clearer.
