Post Cemetery
Plattsburgh Barracks

Plattsburgh Air Force Base, Plattsburgh, Clinton County, New York
The Post Cemetery is located on the Old Base and contains a monument to Unknown Dead of the War of 1812. There are 136 Unknown Soldiers buried here. The remains of many of these soldiers were discovered while excavating on and around Plattsburgh Barracks. 445 persons are buried in this cemetery -- 163 Known Soldiers, 106 children and wives of soldiers. Thomas Kelly, SFC, U.S. Army, Spanish American War Veteran, and Congressional Medal of Honor winner is among those buried here. Burials are no longer permitted.
A complete list of the interments has been provided to the Town of Plattsburgh by JOSEPH W. ROCK, Real Property Officer, Plattsburgh Air Force Base.
The inscriptions from the tombstones were recorded by Mrs. Mary A. Fogarty, Town of Plattsburgh Historian, assisted by Mrs. Phyllis Julian, wife of Sgt. Ralph Julian of Plattsburgh Air Force Base, on July 27, 1981.
-- Mary A. Fogarty, Town of Plattsburgh Historian, 1981
