Sacred to the memory of
Kezia Newcomb, who died Feb.
20^th 1822,
in the 17^th year of her age.
Beneath this urn in soft repose
To wait the final doom (dawn?)
Lies a lov'd flower which like the rose
Had but a transient bloom

Hopes brightest scenes ware (sic) soon o'er cast
By a thick sable cloud
And the sweet flower retir'd at last
For shelter in a shroud.
