Bessie Frey and William Smith

    William Smith was born in Marion May 13, 1889, the son of Isaac and Martha Wilcox Smith. He was an honorary member of the New York Central Hose Co. of the Newark Fire Department, and belonged to the Brotherhood of Railway and Steamship clerks.
    Mr. Smith was one of Newark's most ardent baseball fans. He had an elaborate model railroad layout at his home and planned to organize a boys' club for model railroads at the Community Center.
