Johann Adam Nusbickel built his home in 1808 (still standing as of August 14, 1980) in Wöllstein, Rheinhessen, Germany. His name and the date are carved in the stone above the lintel. His wife, Christina Elizabetha passed away in 1831 at the age of 42.
Johann came to America in 1852. His son, Friederick and daughter, Christina, were already in the United States, having arrived in 1839. Friederick paid his father's passage and any brothers and sisters who wanted to come. He requested his father to bring the family Bible.
