CASWELL CO, NC DEED Murphey, Gabriel Sr. to Murphey, Gabriel Jr - 1795 NC Deed Book H, page 439 transcribed verbatim by Sandra Lake Lassen, January 1997 from NC State Archives microfilm This Indenture Made this 20th of March in the year of our Lord one thousand Seven hundred & ninety five Between Gabriel Murphey Senr. of the one part and Gabriel Murphey Junr. of the other part both of the County of Caswell & State of North Carolina Witnesseth that for & in consideration of the Sum of Fifty pounds in hand paid to the sd. Gabriel Murphey Senr. the Receipt Whereof is here by acknowledged hath given granted bargaind and Sold & by these presents doth Give Grant bargain & sell unto the Said Gabriel Muprhey Junr. a Certain piace parcell or Tract of Land & prmises lying & being in the County aforesaid on the waters of Linches Creek Beginning at a post oak Turning thence East 40 Chains to a Stake Thence North 20 Chains to a Ash on the Side of a branch Then North 45 Degrees west 10 chains to a post oak then west 33 Chains to a pine then South 27 Chains to the Begining Containing one hundred & five acres be the same more or Less It being part of a Large Tract of 450 acres Granted to the Said Gabriel Murphey Senr. by the State 26 day Nov. 1793 and the Reversion or Reversions remainder & remainders ~ Rents profits Heredetiments and Comodities whatsoever there unto belonging or in anywise appurtaining also all the estate right title property claim or demand whatsoever as well in Eaquity as in Sale(?) of him the sd. Gabriel Murphey Senr off in & unto the above mentioned Lands & premeses & every part therof to the only proper use & behoof of him the Said Gabriel Murphey Junr. his heirs & assigns forever to have & to hold the Said Land & premises & the sd Gabriel Murphey Senr for himself his Heirs Exerr Admr and Assigns and persons Claiming in under or by him In Witness Whereof the Sd. Gabriel Murphey Senr hath set his hand and Seal day and year first above writen Signd Seald & Deliverd Gabriel Murphey [seal] In the presense of Dan Herndon Larkin Herndon Caswell County April Court 1793 This deed was duly acknowledged in open court and on motion ordered to be Registered. NC Marriage Bond Caswell Co., NC Gabriel Murphy Jr. to Clarey Hearndon 4 February 1788 Know all men by these presents that we, Gabrial Murphey Junr & Nimrod McIntosh ~~ are held and firmly bound unto This Equally Saml. Johnston Esqr Govr in the Just and full Sum of five Hundred pounds to be paid unto the said Saml Johnston Esq his Successors & Assigns To the which payment is well and Truly To be made we bind ourselves and Heirs Exetrs and Assigns (Equally?) and Severally firmly by these presents Sealed with our Seals and dated this 4th day of February anno Dom 1788 The Condition of This Obligaton is such that Whereas the above bounder Gabrial Murphey Jun. hath this day of the date hereof Obtained a License to be Joyned in Holy Matrimony with Clarey Hearndon & Therefore there Should be no Lawfull Impedement why the said Gabriel Murphey & Clarey Hearndon Should not be Joyned Together in Holy Matrimony then the above Obligation to be void Otherwise to remain in full fource & effect. /s/ gabrill murphy /s/Nimrod (x) McIntosh Signd Sealed & Delivered A.
