Miscellaneous notes Subject: Re: Visit to Hubbard/Dawson Date: Wed, 30 May 2001 10:00:13 -0500 From: Jana Trent To: Mark Murphy References: 1 , 2 , 3 Dear Mark, Yes, of course you can add the grave information. One thing, though. The "notes" that came through on my group sheet of John E. Denton need to be sanitized if you plan to post that information. I don't really want to advertise the KKK connection! Jana Subject: Re: Visit to Hubbard/Dawson Date: Tue, 29 May 2001 20:37:26 -0500 From: Jana Trent To: Mark Murphy Dear Mark, I visited Liberty Hill cemetery about 10 years ago, to find Denton and Mitchell graves. John Ervin "Bull" Denton is buried there. He was the half brother of James Jefferson Denton who was married to Martha Mitchell, the niece of Sarah and Susan Mitchell, who were married to Isaiah Franklin Murphy. He was in Texas before 1875 and I have always wondered if he was the first of this Maury County clan to arrive. What is the earliest arrival of the branch that you are researching? I did not know about the Murphys OR the Crews at the time I went to the cemetery, so missed them entirely. Will be anxious to see your information. James Jefferson Denton and family came to Hubbard in 1893, on the lam from a murder he committed in Culleoka. (More about that if you are interested.) Anyway, I have a number of unidentified photos from both Columbia, Tennessee and Hubbard, TX photography studios. Wondering if some of those might not be of Crews and Murphy families? Have you corresponded with Andy Crews in San Antonio?
