!Military: Texas State Archives; Widow's Application for a Pension # 28436 & Military record, in file. Corporal, Co F 1st & also called 6th Wheeler's Tenn Cavalry. Captured 8 Oct 1863 near Cornersville Tn. He enlisted 5 Jul 1861 at Camp Lee for a period of 12 mos. Paroled at Camp Morton, Ind & forwarded via Baltimore, Md for exchange; 14 Feb 1865. Records in file.Note: They came to Texas in Jan 1875, & settled in the Liberty Hill Community, between Dawson & Hubbard. 13 Feb 1875 they joined the Cumberland Presbyterian Church at Liberty Hill. He was made a Deacon Jul 1888, Elder 1888, & Superintendent of Sunday School 1897. He was called Cal.
Liberty Hill Church Cumberland Presbyterian: February 13th 1875- John Calvin Murphy & Nancy Almeda Murphy having given satisfactory evidence of their conversion to God by His Holy Spirit, were admitted into full fellowship of the church.

This must be incorrect. J.C. was in TN during the Civil War.
