The Barnhart Rice home, painted by Brad Rice

Frederick Rice was a pioneer and Revolutionary War soldier of German heritage.  According to the Rice histories, he was born in Northampton County, PA in 1753.  His father was Barnhart Rice, often found in Lutheran Church records in Pennsylvania as Bernhardt Reiss or Bernt Reis. Around 1770, Barnhart Rice moved his family to near Harrold's Settlement in Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania.  Read more about this Rice family under the Family History page.

One objective of the 2005 Frederick Rice Family Reunion project is to update the genealogical record of the Frederick Rice family.  This will be the first family wide effort since 1926.  Here are links to a Family Group Worksheet and a Family Lineage Form.  You can fill in the fields on these pages and submit them by email, or print them, fill them in and mail it to Marjorie Rice Chance to include your lineage in the updated Frederick Rice Family book.  You may also go to one of the free genealogy forms sites listed on our links page and download and print a family group form and a pedigree form, complete them and send them to Marjorie.  Your cooperation in providing complete and accurate information is greatly appreciated.
