Executed deed in LI in 1717. In 1729 moved to Orange County. According to Joe Boyle William was the first of the Mapes to move to Orange County. On March 31, 1729 he bought about 1100 acres of land from Elizabeth Denne for the sum of $625.00 New York Paper Money

Hannah Horton was born about 1670. She died about 1730. Hannah married William Mapes on 1686 in Southold, Suffolk Co. NY.

Lieutenant William Mapes [Parents] was born 1714. He died 28 Feb 1798 and was buried Mar 1798 in Phillipsburg Cemetery, Walkill, NY. Lieutenant married Eunice Loring on 19 May 1735 in Southold, Suffolk, NY.

According to Joe Boyle in "Descendants of Thomas Mapes etc". p 11 who quotes Ham, Mapes Family in America, and Ruttenber and Clark - William erected a building which he ran as a tavern and trading post. He was referred to in several deeds as "Innkeeper". His next door neighbor was David Moore who owned a large house that was taken over by William. This house lasted for 125 years and was demolished in 1870. He was commissioned a lieutenant in the Orange County Troop of Horse under Capt. Henry Youngs in 1738. William was described as a middle sized man with prominent features.

Eunice Loring was born 1713. She died 10 Mar 1810 in Orange Co., NY, USA and was buried (UNKNOWN) in Phillipsburg Cemetery, Wallkill, NY. Eunice married Lieutenant William Mapes on 19 May 1735 in Southold, Suffolk, NY.


Henry Mapes [Parents] was born 1727. He died Oct 1812. Henry married Anna X.

According to Joe Boyle, Descendants of Thomas Mapes etc" p 12 (sources, Mapes Family in America and Mapes, A tentative Correction) -     Henry owned the Runno Farm. UA CD #100 lists mother as Rose and indicates that Henry Mapes (RIN 2969) is the father of Amy Mapes who married John Daley. ,

Anna X was born about 1731. She died (UNKNOWN). Anna married Henry Mapes.


Myndert Hendrickson Hogencamp was born 1645 in Holland. He died (BET. 1699 - 1700) in America. Myndert married Jannetje Hendricks Wiltse on 23 Apr 1682 in Dutch Reformed Church of NY, Meppelen.

No record of immigration in Boyer's "Ships Passengers" lists but recorded as having been hired March 21, 1663 as a farmhand by Elbert Elbertsz of Nykert. Age estimated from this date.

Parents listed as Myndert Hendrickson and Jannetje Hendricks in Children's baptismal records. In Holland their surname would have been Myndertsz but permanent surnames were required by 1700 in this country so they chose Hogencamp.

Jannetje Hendricks Wiltse was born 1665. She died (UNKNOWN). Jannetje married Myndert Hendrickson Hogencamp on 23 Apr 1682 in Dutch Reformed Church of NY, Meppelen.
