I wonder if all these Westlake don't all fit together somehow as one big family. My Westlake family comes down through:
1. Samuel Westlake b. 1650 in Devonshire, England m. not known
2. Albert Westlake b. 1675 b. 1675 in Devonshire, England - m. not known
3. Samuel Westlake b. 1699 in Devonshire, England m. Anne
4. Samual Westlake II b. 1721 in Cornwall Co., England m. Sara Welling
5. Thomas Westlake b. 1 Jan 1755 in Trenton, NJ m1. Elizabeth Crandall - am descended from first wife - m2. Mary Brasee
6. Elizabeth Westlake b. 22 April 1780 in Greenbriar Co.?, VA m. Rev. Richard Bird
********
Samuel Westlake II and Sara Welling had a son by the name of Bourroughs Westlake and wonder if this name wasn't brought down through family members. Even if the spelling differs. Family members above would of had brothers. I have siblings for the above Thomas and I show one sibling for Samuel II, a George Westlake, no birth year. And one sibling for Albert, also a George Westlake, no birth year.

From info research by a Bob Dixon, he writes:
SAMUEL WESTLAKE

Samuel and Ann Westlake were the first of this family to immigrate
to America. They were here at least by the 1720's. They were said to have
come from Devonshire, CO, England. However, some sources say Dumfries
(County or Shire), Scotland.
Samuel died by 1725. In New Jersey Colonial Documents, 26
November 1725, Ann Westlake of Piles Grove, Salem County, posted her bond
as the administratrix of his estate. Henry Paullen of Salem County was
fellow bondsman. From the same source, on 5 May 1726, was found a list of
an inventory of the personal estate of Samuel Westlake by Henry Paullen and
Sam Elwell (L51.3) On 13 December 1726, there was a marriage between Ann
Westlake, possibly the widow of Samuel, and John L. Burroughs/Burrows. It
took place in Philadelphia, PA, at the First Presbyterian Church.
[Westlake Family History, Vol I, Patricia Base Schlabach]. Samuel and Ann
had two known children, Samuel II and George. George died in New York
City. [Benson Westlake, Westlake Family Chart.]

SAMUEL WESTLAKE II

Wayne Vandal Masterson, a Westlake genealogist, who credits
another researcher named Ralph Pearson for the following, lists Samuel
Westlake II as born in Cornwall, England, ca. 1721. His wife was Sarah
Welling who was born in Philadelphia, Oneida County, New York. Samuel and
Sarah settled in Trenton, New Jersey, and he reportedly owned property
connected with the "Iron Works." [Schlabach] What that establishment was
is not known, but Samuel worked as a blacksmith. [Pearson, The Westlake
Family]
Samuel and Sarah had nine children. Several of the sons were said
to have fought with Washington at the battle of Germantown. Some sources
say Samuel, the father, was on the side of the British during the
Revolution. [Schlabach]
A descendant, Mary Gilruth, stated that Samuel lived with his son
Thomas in Greenbrier County, Virginia (now West Virginia), until he died at
a great age [possibly in the year 1796], and was buried at the Gilboa
Meeting House graveyard at Big Levels there. [Pearson]
Samuel and Sarah (Welling) Westlake had the following children
[Pearson]:
1. Samuel Westlake, born 1745;
2. John Westlake, born 1747, died 1795;
3. Burroughs Westlake, born 1749 (Mercer County, PA);
4. George Westlake;
5. Thomas Westlake,
6. Joseph/Josiah Westlake, born 1758;
7. William Westlake, born 1761;
8. Sarah Westlake, born 1763;
9. Nancy Westlake, born 1764, died 1766.

Sarah Welling was born in Philedelphia, Oneida Co, NY. She died (UNKNOWN). Sarah married Samuel Westlake.

Henry Brewster was born 1720. He died May 1795 in Blooming Grove, Orange County, NY, USA. Henry married Mary Smith.

Mary Smith [Parents] 1 died 13 May 1797 in Blooming Grove, Orange County, NY, USA. She married Henry Brewster.

Lil's Note: May or may not be a sister to David Smith. An early theory only of Jeannie Killick alias Jennie-ology. Her assumption was based on the fact that David Smith lived with the Brewsters in 1747 in OC. (see below)  She has recently written to say that She now believes this not to be the case- but no concrete proof. So I leave it.

 Carter was a tenant of Mary Tyler. Richard Floyd testified that about forty years previous, his father sold land and buildings to John Tyler Sr. About 1740, John Tyler Sr. gave security for a loan to Adam Darling and mortgaged his land to David Smith.  John Tyler Sr.'s wife Sarah was sister of said David Smith. After the death of John Sr. both Sarah, his widow and John Tyler Jr., his son lived on the homestead. John Jr. married after the death of his father. He claimed he inherited the entire homestead. Sarah claimed that the homestead was to be divided equally among all the children (names and number not cited) John Jr died and left only one child, Mary, the above lessor.

His mother's name was Sarah, maiden name unknown. among the Smith family papers were records kept by Davids mother Sarah Tyler indicating that as early as 1747 she had been widowed. Another paper stated that "David, son of Sarah Tyler was apprenticed to Stephen Jayne blacksmith, Sep 1, 1751" and a note addressed "to my son William" was dated Apr 8, 1757. In addition to John, William & David Tyler, the children of John, Sr., and Sarah (Smith) Tyler, there was also a Benjamin Tyler in Brookhaven, b. ca 1738-1740. Although I cannot find any documentary proof about his parentage, I strongly suspect that he was another son of John Sr. and Sarah. I could not find any other Tylers who appear in the records at the right time to have been his parents...And obviously, if Benjamin Tyler was actually another son of the elder Sarah, the fact that she named him Benjamin certainly would fit in with my hunch that she (and David Smith) might have been children of Benjamin (2) Smith. But it is all still conjecture so far.

Although I cannot find any documentary proof about his parentage, I strongly suspect that he was another son of John Sr. and Sarah. I could not find any other Tylers who appear in the records at the right time to have been his parents, plus the only record I could find so far for him acquiring land was when he purchased some in 1772 from Benajah Smith, who was son of Arthur Smith, and thus brother of the younger Sarah (Smith) Tyler and brother-in-law of David Tyler. If Benjamin T was actually another son of John & Sarah, and if David Smith and his sister, the elder  Sarah (Smith) Tyler, were children of Benjamin (2) Smith, s/o Arthur (1), as we know Arthur (3) Smith was, then Benajah Smith and Benjamin Tyler would have been first cousins.

And obviously, if Benjamin Tyler was actually another son of the elder Sarah, the fact that she named him Benjamin certainly would fit in with my hunch that she ( and David Smith) might have been children of Benjamin (2) Smith. But it is all still conjecture so far.

Just a little more data -  the 1776 census of Suffolk County shows that in the... in the Benjamin Tiler household in northern Brookhaven there were 7 people- 1 male betw. 16 and 50, 2 males under 16, 1 female over 16, and 3 females under 16.
