"Jacob was born Dec 19, 1862 in Indiana and moved to Stearns County with his family in 1867. Jacob married Mary Perkinson of Sauk Centre and lived in Stearns county until 1902. At that time they moved three miles northeast of Westport and lived on the same place until opening a hardware store in
Westport, with son Jacob W., in 1924. the store operated until 1940. Jake ran a steam threshing rig for many years. Jacob and Mary had five children - one died shortly after birth: Mildred (Beste), Elvira McGowan), Lawrence, deceased Jacob (Jack); Lee, Deceased; Carl, deceases. Jacob passed away in
1941 at the age of 79 years. Mary passed away 1956 at the age of 89 years.
A lot of Westport kids remember Gram Frederick's organ and how much fun it was to play it."

" Jacob R Frederick was born on a farm near Shakopee, Minn, Dec 19, 1863. At the age of two years his parents moved to a farm 3 miles east of Westport where he lived until July 26, 1892 when he was united in marriage to Mary Isabelle Perkinson. They moved unto his farm, two and one-half miles southeast of Westport where they resided 10 years. He then purchased the farm northeast of Westport and resided there until he purchased the hardware implement and coal business.
He was a very prosperous farmer and served the public in many capacities. He served several terms as clerk of the school board and also several terms on Westport township board, was a Director of Northfolk Farmers Mutual Insurance Co until his death.
His health has been failing for the past two years and since June has spent most of his time in Minneapolis until Oct. 12 when he returned home and remained until Sunday when he returned to Minneapolis where he passed away at 1:30 PM Tuesday morning, Jan 7.
he is survived by his wife and six children: Mildred Beste, of Osakis; Elvira Kittoe of Mitchell, SD; Lee of Sauk Centre; Lawrence, Jacob, William and Carl, all of Westport and 18 grandchildren;; three brothers, Ed of Maple Creek, Sask Canada; Monroe and Charlie of Westport, and one sister, Kate Doty of tintah, Minn.
He was preceded in death by one infant daughter.
Funeral services were held in the Methodist Church in Westport, Friday at 2 PM Rev. Clark of Glenwood officiated. Paul bearers were Leslie and Rupert Judkins, William Simpson, Wm Welch, and FA Gaffaney. The remains were laid to rest in Lake Amelia cemetery at Villard.
He will be greatly missed by his many friends and will always be remembered by the good deeds he has done.

" Jacob R Frederick, an old resident of Westport passed away at University hospital, Minneapolis, on Tuesday Morning, Jan 7, at 1:30 am. Mr Frederick was born at Shakopee Minn Dec 19, 1863 where he lived until two years of age, when he moved to Westport. He was married to Mary Isabelle Perkinson on July 26, 1892. They lived on a farm near Westport until 1924 when they moved into town. Mr Frederick had been in failing health the past two years and had spent most of the summer in hospital. He is survived by Mrs Frederick, four sons and two daughters, besides 18 grandchildren. All the children and grandchildren attended the funeral which was held at the ME Church on Friday Jan 10. The surviving children are Mrs Joe Beste, Osakis; Mrs James Kitto, Mitchell SD; Lawrence, Jack, Joe and Carl of Westport..."
