The town of Roxbury was established in 1630. Boundary lines were set with Newtowne in 1635, with Boston in 1641, with Dedham in 1675 and in Boston again in 1836. Roxbury received more land in 1838 from Newton. In 1844 Roxbury gave land to Brookline and set new boundary lines with Boston in 1850. Part of Roxbury became West Roxbury in 1851. Roxbury gave land to Boston in 1860, and then joined Boston in 1867. Roxbury records are shown in both Norfolk and Suffolk Counties (present location).
