The town of Dorchester was established in 1630 and covered all the area from
Boston to Dedham. Dorchester records have been included in Suffolk County and
Norfolk County, as many of the records are found in Suffolk, even though
Dorchester did not become part of Suffolk until 1869. In 1869, Dorchester became
part of Boston, Suffolk Co, MA. Please always check surrounding towns and counties
for your ancestors. The first documented HOLBROOK that I have found so far is John HOLEBROOK in 1663.
