It is built from dressed stone brought from Newmillerdam.
The tower contains a peal of eight bells.
Beneath the church there are vaults holding 42 coffins with the last being interned in 1843, in 1856 no further interments were allowed in the vaults.
The tower was struck by lightning in 1880 and had to be rebuilt, this was undertaken with further alterations to the church at the same time.
