Venango Volunteer Fire Department 21486 Meadville Street Venango, PA 16440 (814) 398-8249 1947 Organization Organized by Hass Hoovler, Joy Contray, Harry Lasher, Lester Davis, and Frank Geble. Approval was received from the residents and a committee was formed to purchase a fire truck. A 1926 LaFrance Pumper was purchased for $1,500 in Oil City. February 1948 Chartered The new officers were: Frank Geble, President; James Howles, Sr., the first Chief. 1949 Auxiliary Formation 1949 Tank Truck Purchase A one thousand gallon tank truck was purchased to haul water to supply the pumper at fires. 1949 First Fire House A barn was purchased from Fritz Yenny and it was renovated for a fire house. Meetings were held upstairs. 1957 Pumper Purchase A 1946 John Bean Pumper was purchased to replace the 1926 LaFrance Pumper. Money was raised by bake sales, raffles, pancake breakfasts, and fair participation. 1960 New Fire House A new fire house was built beside the old school house which had closed in the late 1950's.
