Richmond Township was formed in 1829 from portions of Randolph and Rockdale Townships.
Woodcock Creek flows westward through the southern part of the township, and Muddy Creek
crosses its northeastern corner. A portion of the Erie National Wildlife Refuge lies within its
borders. It is located 10 miles northeast of Meadville.
