SAEGERTOWN - William Arthur Hayes, 82, of 20970 Acker Road,
Saegertown, died Monday, Feb. 11, 2002, at Crawford County
Care Center, Saegertown, where he had resided for the past
four years.

Born in Cussewago Township Jan 5, 1920, he was a son of
William and Edith Shaffer Hayes. He married Viola Johnson
June 15, 1946.

He was a laborer for Keystone Construction in Meadville for
many years, and in later years dealt in the selling of used
farm equipment.

Survivors, in addition to his wife of 55 years, include a
sister, Mary Barnett of Erie; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Raymond, Wilbur
and Charley Hayes; and three sisters, Myrtle Rice, Hazel
Gibson and Ethel Hayes.

Calling hours will be Wednesday from 9 to 11 a.m. at Van Matre
Family Funeral Home, 335 Venango Ave., Cambridge Springs.

The funeral will follow at 11 a.m. at the funeral home, with
the Rev. Thad Kondzielski of St. Philip Catholic Church
officiating.

Burial will be in St. James Cemetery, Crossingville.
