Everett Lee Tau, 77, of 31 Park Ave., Meadville, formerly of 21404 Gospel Hill Road, Venango,
died Saturday, Jan. 14, 2006, at Wesbury United Methodist Community.
Born May 18, 1928, in Pittsburgh, he was a son of Elmer and Rita Smeltzer Tau. On Sept. 22,
1951, he married Mary Ellen Lasher.
Over the years, Everett had been employed by Palmer’s Forge, Avtex Corp. and Edinboro
University of Pennsylvania.
He attended Christ Evangelical Free Church of Saegertown and was associated with First Church
of God, Cambridge Springs, and First Church of God, Meadville.
His hobbies included cutting wood and working in his flower gardens.
Everett is survived by his wife, Mary Ellen Tau, of Meadville; a daughter, Sharon Sharp of
Pocatello, Idaho; a son, Chris Tau and his wife, Trudi, of Cambridge Springs; three grandchildren,
Rita Davis and her husband, Jamon, of Saegertown, Kimberly Duda and her husband, Joe, of Cambridge
Springs, and Ruth Anna Ball, also of Cambridge Springs; two great-grandchildren, Tyler and Karmen;
two sisters, Elsie Darr and her husband, Wayne, of Lake Wales, Fla., and Pauline Donnell of
Cambridge Springs; four brothers, Everett’s twin brother, Elmer Tau, and his wife, Eloise, of Lake
City, Paul Tau and his wife, Mariam, of Frostproof, Fla., John Tau and his wife, Norma, of Venango,
and Frank Tau and his wife, Marge, of Gilbert, Ariz.; and 24 nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Ruth Williams; one brother, Harley Tau; a son-in-law, Bob
Sharp; and brothers-in-law Harry Donnell, Gordon Williams and Andrew Batchelor.
Friends may call Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Byham-Miller-Mizner Funeral Home Inc.,
404 Chestnut St., Meadville.
Funeral services will be Thursday at 1 p.m. at First Church of God, 13226 Leslie Road, Meadville,
with Pastor J. Temple Jarrell officiating.
Interment will be in Venango Cemetery, Venango.
The family suggests memorials be made to American Cancer Society Crawford County Unit, 464 Pine St.,
