Mrs. Samuel (Mildren Ruth) Browder, 74, of RD 3, Saegertown,
died at her home Tuesday afternoon, May 18, 1976, after an
illness of two months.
Born in Donora on February 1, 1902, she was a daughter of
George and Sarah Crusan Kettering. She married Mr. Browder
54 years ago. Mrs. Browder was a member of Cussewago United
Methodist Church and taught Sunday school there for 25 years.
Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Mrs. Marie Metzgar
of Saegertown and Mrs. Camille Getty Patton of RD 3, Saegertown;
four sons, Lawrence A. of Waterford, Robert G. of RD 3, Saegertown,
Richard L. of Lima,Ohio, and Samuel A. Jr. of RD 2, Meadville;
five sisters, Mrs. Sara Gillis of Brownsville, Mrs. Anna Eddings
of San Diego, Mrs. Margaret Hill of Guys Mills, Mrs. Esther Miller
of Livermore, Calif., and Mrs. Marcella Cinek of Willets, Calif.;
two brothers, James Kettering of Washington, D.C., and Charles
Kettering of Burlingame, Calif.; 18 grandchildren; 12 great-grand-
children; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death
by two brother and one sister.
Friends called at the Kenneth M. Downs Funeral Home, Cambridge Springs,
where services were conducted at 1 p.m. Friday with the Rev. Allison
Griffis, pastor of Carmel Baptist Church, Mosiertown, officiating.
Interment was at Venango Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Karen Getty, Lawrence Browder, Jeffrey T. Browder,
Jeffrey L. Browder, Bruce Metzgar, Gerald Metzgar, Daniel Christie,
Robert Joslin, Jr.
