Ellen Ann Dunton, 58, of RD 3, Saegertown, a former tipstaff at the Crawford
County Courthouse, died Wednesday, September 2, 1992, at her residence after
a long illness.
She was born in Cussewago Township, May 27, 1934, a daughter of Nellie Bacon
Davis and the late Claude Davis. She married Ernest B. Dunton, October 23,
1952.
She was a tipstaff at the Courthouse from 1979 to 1991 and also was a hostess
at the Halfway Country Store and Tea Room from 1989 to 1991. She was a member
of Carmel Baptist Church in Mosiertown, where she previously was a Sunday
School teacher and choir member.
Survivors include four sons, Dennis Dunton of RD 2, Venango; Doug Dunton of
Winter Haven, FL; Dwight Dunton of RD 3, Saegertown; and Darwin Scott Dunton
of RD 1, Cambridge Springs; her mother, of RD 3, Saegertown; five sisters,
Mrs. Harold (Ruth) Little of Springboro; Mrs. Alvira (Allison) Griffis of
Crescent City, FL; Mrs. Maynard (Lillian) Andrews of RD 3, Cambridge Springs;
Mrs. Gerald (Betty) Sheldon of Conneautville, and Mrs.Wayne (Carol) White of
RD 2, Edinboro; two brothers, Raymond Davis of Augusta, GA; and Richard Davis
of RD 2, Cambridge Springs and 10 grandchildren. She was preceded in death
by a son, Duane, in 1984.
A funeral will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Carmel Baptist Church, with the Rev.
Curtis Finchman officiating. Burial will be in Carmel Freeman Cemetary,
Cussewago Township.
Calling hours are Saturday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at VanMatre Funeral
Home, 335 Venango Ave., Cambridge Springs.
The family suggests memorials be made to Carmel Baptist Church for the
American Cancer Society.
