Norrisville is hamlet which lies the center of Summerhill Township.
It was settled in 1803 by Valentine P. Gwin, who was of French descent. His father accompanied
Gen. Lafayette to this country and served under him in the Federal Army until the end of the
Revolutionary War. He then settled in Bucks County and worked as a blacksmith until 1803.
He died at the age of 1821.
