Hayfield Township is Venango's neighbor to the south. It is bounded on the east by French Creek. It was incorporated in 1829 from Mead, Venango, and Cussewago Townships. The township was once known for its extensive hay crops, hence its name. The area was originally settled by James Dickson in 1796.
