Fauncetown is a hamlet of similar size, situated on Oil Creek, in the northeast part. Edmond C. Newton, from whom it received its name, located here in 1847, remaining till his death in 1872. He purchased from Samuel Sinclair a farm and the saw-mill on the site of the one erected by William Sheffield, and operated it for many years.
