Published in 1850 by the American Bible Society, New York, this Bible was passed down through Susan D. Ratcliff (Weaver), Granddaughter of Susan Foulkrod. In the front of the bible is a blank page now torn loose with the handwritten inscription:

Jacob Foulkrod's and Phebe Foulkrod's Bible
November 10^th 1850

In the bible at the end of the Old Testament are two pages with entries of family births and deaths. They read as follows:

Elizabeth Foulkrod was born October 31^st 1848

Sarah Foulkrod was born May 29^th 1850

(A piece of paper is pasted over the original year of birth, the date 1850 in another hand is written on this slip. The paper covers a hole in the page.)

Phebe Foulkrod was born March 14^th 1852

Margaretta Jane Foulkrod was born August 25^th 1853

Ruth Amelia Foulkrod was born May 16^th1855

George Foulkrod was born April 10^th 1861

Alice Foulkrod was born October 27^th 1862

(The first name of this entry has faded beyond recognition an "ic" is barely visible before Foulkrod; the death entry in this bible, a separate obituary, and census data verify the existence of an Alice Foulkrod born around this time)

Susan More Foulkrod was born February 11^th 1865

(The last year of the date is overwritten, definitely a "5" maybe a "3" or "4" beneath it)

John Thomas Foulkrod departed this life January 26^th 1871 age three years five months and six days

Alice Foulkrod departed this life December 2^nd 1882 aged twenty years one month and five days

(The date December 2^nd is crossed out in pencil with the date November 27^th written in below and that date is also crossed out in pencil)

Laura E. Foulkrod departed this life May 23^rd 1893 aged twenty-three years eight month and twenty two days

Note.--All children's entries included the phrase daughter of Jacob and Phebe Foulkrod (including John Thomas Foulkrod), except for George Foulkrod where son of Jacob and Phebe Foulkrod was used.
