LAST WILL AND TESTAMENT
PHILIP FOULKROD
May 23, 1785
Be it remembered that I, Philip Folkrod, of Oxford Township in the County of Philadelphia, and State of Pennsylvania, Yeoman, being infirm of body and considering that it is appointed unto all men once to die, yet being blessed with a sound mind and disposing memory, praised be God for the same, do make and publish this my last Will and Testament, in manner and form following (that is to say)
First, I give and bequeath unto my four daughters: Elizabeth, the wife of Christian Troutman; Mary, the wife of John Helt; Hannah Folkrod, a single woman; and Mary Susanna, the wife of Jacob Humblepach out of my field adjoining the great road leading from Philadelphia to Bristol and next to my brother, Jacob Folkrod's line, one acre of ground each, to hold to each and every of them, and to each and every of their heirs and assigns forever.
Also I give and bequeath unto my son Philip Folkrod junior and to his heirs and assigns forever, eight acres of ground adjoining the ground granted and devised to my daughters.
Also, I give and bequeath to my son George Folkrod and to his heirs and assigns forever twenty acres of ground in consideration of his paying all my just debts, which I hereby order him to do.
And I give and bequeath to my beloved wife Barbara Folkrod all the residue of my Plantation during her natural life, and at my said wife's decease I give and bequeath it to my son George Folkrod and to his heirs and assigns forever, in consideration of his keeping my said wife during her natural life which it is my will he shall do.
And if any of my said children shall incline to sell the ground hereby bequeathed to them or any part there of they shall first offer to their brothers and sisters, and not sell it to any other person till they neglect or refuse to buy it; and it is my will that my said four daughters shall have apples for their own house and no more out of my orchard, as long as my aforesaid wife shall see fit.
And I give and bequeath unto my aforesaid Wife Barbara Folkrod all my personal Estate whatever during her natural life, and at her decease I give it unto my said sons and four Daughters to be divided between them all six equally, share and share alike in peace and good agreement.
And I do hereby constitute and appoint my beloved wife Barbara Folkrod Exectrix and my son George Folkrod executor of this my last Will and Testament, hereby revoking all former Wills by me made, declaring this only to be my last Will and Testament. In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal the Twenty third day of May in the Year of our Lord One thousand Seven Hundred and Eighty Five.
