Death removed on October 4, one of South Walsingham's well known and highly respected citizens, J Arthur Foster, whose death occurred at the home of his daughter Mrs. Jack Carson after a lengthy illness.
Born at Erie View, 77 years ago, he was the second son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Elias Foster.
Most of his life was spent in this vicinity. He was well known and was always keenly active in anything that would be a benefit to the community in which he lived. For several years he was an engineer on the Santa Fe RR but later came back to his farm in Houghton Twp. After retiring from farm life, he moved to Simcoe where he resided for several years. Two years ago he moved to Port Royal and at the time of his death was living with his daughter on part of the farm that has been in the Foster family for four generations.
He was a member of the Houghton council for several terms, also served on the school board. Was a past master of No 174, A F & A M lodge, Port Rowan, a member of Erie View church and a lifelong liberal.
Although a great suffer, he was always pleased to have old friends visit him, to talk over past events and tell him of present world events of which he could no part.
He was married 47 years ago to Margaret Parks of Malahide Twp and to them was born two children, Lloyd of Hamilton and Dorothy (Mrs. Carson) of Erie View.
The funeral was held at the home on Monday Oct 7 and was very largely attended. Rev. Mr. Wentworth of Simcoe, a former pastor officiated and later the Masons took charge of the service with the DDGM, Mr. Harry Anderson in charge.
Burial took place at Port Royal cemetery where the Mason continued their beautiful and effective service. He leaves to mourn his passing, his wife, two children, one granddaughter and two brothers, Emerson and Charles M Foster. The family have the sincere sympathy of the community.

Doctor Badly Hurt in Hunting Mishap
Kincardine, Oct 24 - Dr. H J Wildfang, of Tillsonburg, is in hospital here critically wounded when his shotgun discharged as he stumbled in the yard at his summer cottage at Inverhuron, 10 miles north of here.
He received the full charge from his shotgun at close range in his abdomen. Tonight he was given a fair chance of recovery as it was said the pellets missed vital organs by a hairs-breath.
Dr. Wildfang has a summer home at Inverhuron and had driven there with his wife and daughter for the Thanksgiving holiday. He went to the rear of the cottage for target practice with his shotgun. There he stumbled, discharging his gun.
Dr R J Tucker of Paisley and Dr. A E H Crouch of Kincardine were in Inverhuron atthe time and give Dr. Wildfang immediate treatment and had him removed to Kincardine hospital.

NEW PASTOR AND WIFE ARE GIVEN WELCOME

Larger Attendance at Meeting of Erie View Ladies' Aid
ERIE VIEW - Mrs. Hover and Mrs. Weber were joint hostesses on Thursday of last week, when they entertained the Erie View Baptist Aid.
The spacious room were hardly large enough to accommodate the Aid members and large number of guests who came for dinner and to get better acquainted with these two matrons who have lately come to make their home in the neighbourhood. A delicious roast chicken and roast veal dinner was served fromm 12:30 to 2:30 to sixty people. After dinner the meeting was called to order by the president, Mrs. Uri Marr and before starting the business session, she asked everyone to stand in loving memory of our late vice president, Mrs. George Leighfield. The minutes of the last meeting were read and adopted and a report on the chicken dinner held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ethel Foster on Oct 17th. All outstanding bills were paid but as it was so near the end of the year, it was thought best not to plan any new work until after the officers were elected for the new year.
A short program was given which included readings by Miss Marie Ferris and Mrs. C M Foster and a song by Mrs. Marr.
The president on behalf of the Aid gave the new pastor Rev. Jas Taylor and Mrs. Taylor a very hearty welcome and expressed hope that we would enjoy many more pleasant Aid gatherings together. A vote of thanks was also given the hostesses for so kindly offering their home for the November meeting. Rev. Mr. Taylor closed the meeting with prayer. The proceeds of the dinner were $17.25.
