RAYKQ (Wooden) John Beall b. about 1726 Baltimore or surrounding counties, Maryland, USA 124757: Brickman (432 ID Beall Project) "Beal Wooden (b. 1759), from whom I descend, was the son of Keziah Wooden and John Beall according to court records. Only three John Bealls appear to have been in the Baltimore area and about the right age in 1759 to have been the father of Beal Wooden. One was a John Beall descended from John Beall, son of Alexander Beall. Another was John Fendall Beall a descendent of James Beall, the brother of Alexander Beall. The third was a John Beall who was a descendant of Colonel Ninian Beall. The court record simply states John Beall as the father. DNA results do not closely match those of Ninian Beall descendants. The closest matches are with descendants of Alexander Beall through John Beall his son. Therefore, I have concluded that the most likely father of Beal Wooden was John Beall (born abt. 1726), son of John Beall, son of Alexander Beall (born 1749) the immigrant from Scotland to Maryland. "

44377: Smeathers [Beall] - Smeathers Asa Beall Year Born: 1804 Year Died: 1884 (425 ID Beall Project) L165 + "Family research is now indicating through the use of dna that my 5 great grandfather Asa Smeathers born in 1804 may not be of the Smeathers blood line, rather the Beal(Bell) blood line. There have never been any documents or other sources indicating he was adopted, however, is mother was a widow with 2 small children when she married James Smeathers who was thought to be Asa's father." Current Analysis

DYS 393 - all but one of the Beall's has a "14" at this marker - it appears that SXVA3 experienced a mutation in his paternal line since 1652.

DYS 390 -

DYS 385A - One kit experienced a mutation since the CA of the larger group.

DYS 439 - the modal for the group is "13" with five mutations visable - these mutations all took place since the MRCA of the larger group. As more Beall participants are added, these mutations may become Branch Indicators; it appears that two kits may have shared a more recent common ancestor while three others appear to have had random mutations resulting in convergence in one case and two separate alleles in the other two; it is however possible that the "15" found in 124287 was a failed correction attempt. (Note the 12 and 14 should be considered "double mutations" and counted as only a one step miss from each other.)

DYS 448 - the modal for R-L165 is currently "20" - the Beall's appear to have had a "correction" back to the "19" of P312 as have the Cluster One MacLeods - this could indicate a more recent relationship between the Bealles and the MacLeods or could simply have been random corrections that took place independently within the Beall's and the MacLeods. One kit appears to have corrected back to the "20" of L165 while the others appear to have experienced a second downward mutation in a failed correction attempt. The "20" and the "18" are double mutations and should be counted as a one step miss from each other.

GATH4 - the majority of Beall's have a "10" - 3 corrections to the "11" of R-L165 are seen - these may be Branch Indicators for descendants of William Bell b. 1535 or could have happened randomly throughout the paternal lines. (It should also be noted that these kits showing an "11" were all tested outside of FTDNA). The "10" here is a Beall indicator.

DYS 456 - "17" is a Beall indicator

DYS 576 - usually a volatile marker, it appears stable within the Beall's who all carry a "19".

DYS 570 - "16" appears to be modal to R-L165 - the allele predates the MRCA of the large group

CDY - usually volatile in the Beall's it may be indicating paternal lines - more genealogical information and participation at the 37 marker level is required.

DYS 413b - "24" also the modal allele for the Ayton Cousins who are both R-L165 carriers - testing of the second Ayton Cousin has been requested to determine if this is possibly a Branch Indicator for more closely related groups within the project.

DYS 534 - "16" is modal to R-L165 - the Beall's appear to have corrected back to the "15" of P312

DYS 444 - the modal for R-L165 is undetermined at this time - Cluster One also has a "13" here. It is a Beall indicator.

DYS 446 - the modal for R-L165 is "13" - the Beall's alone have a "14" here within the project - however, this is another indicator of perhaps a closer TMRCA with the MacLeods than with others in the project as the MacLeods have a "15" at this marker. It is possible that the MacLeods and Bealls shared an ancestor beyond the time where the others split into another branch - with the MacLeods experiencing another upward mutation from "14" to "15" further down the "tree".

TMRCA Using In Betweeners

Descendant Chart

I have cleared some cells to allow the in-betweeners to be more easily seen; reading TMRCA to Modal left to right is the actual TMRCA as calculated by YUtility; reading top to bottom the TMRCA has been adjusted to reflect the TMRCA to the person in between them and the modal. As the table shows, most of the individuals are related between 240 - 480 years past; those who are outside of that year range can refine their TMRCA through upgrading from 12 or 25 markers to 37 or 67 and/or have other known cousins tested to learn the age of their mutations.
