The Uyehara Branch

Okinawans are known for being jovial, generous people who are very active in preserving their culture. Every five years, Okinawa hosts a festival called Tai Kai, and Okinawans from all over the world return to the homeland. Especially those who settled in Hawaii still maintain social clubs that represent their familial prefectures. These clubs preserve the traditions of their elders and participate actively in celebrating heritage. The Okinawan community in Hawaii has also ensured the longevity of Okinawan culture through the Hawaii United Okinawan Association. A list of other Okinawan organizations in the U.S. can be found at the Okinawa Association of America.

What was the surname of Kamei Uyehara's first wife, Kamato (b. 18 Oct 1901)? They were married on 16 Jul 1920 in Okinawa.

We have no documented evidences of Yoei Uyehara aside from family pictures and anecdotal evidences. He lived in Laie during 1930 but does not appear on the U.S. Federal Census for the Koolauloa area. Does anyone have documentation for Yoei Uyehara?
