The Davis - Harter Branch

Much of the Davis genealogy has been documented by Paul Zigler and Reta Wingate.

One of the persistent beliefs of the Davis branch is that this family is related to Jefferson Davis of Civil War, Confederate Army notoriety. In fact, several members of this family bear a striking resemblance to the President of the Confederate States of America. There is extensive research in relation to who and who isn't a descendant of Jefferson Davis, and it's become clear that our family is not a direct descendant of JD. Our Harter branch is related to George Dewalt Harter (son of Isaac Harter), the founder of Harter Bank & Trust in Ohio purportedly through Great-Grandpa Harry Edward Harter. However, we have not figured out how. Yet. Is there any information you could offer us?
