The Chong - AhNee Branch

Help to solve the mysteries of our Chong and Ahnee families.
This branch is directly associated with the Ilalaole - Pa Branch.

Mary (AhNee) Chong was said to have insisted that her middle name was Adams. In one family tree submitted at Ancestry's site (no longer accessible without paid membership), Mary's brother, Eddie, is also listed with the middle name Adams though we were not able to contact the submitter of that tree to see how she acquired this information. Then, in the 1910 Federal Census for the Kawaihau District of Kauai, their youngest sister shows up in the household of her half-brother, Joseph Ilalaole, under the name of Lily Adams. Where did the Adams surname come from?

Other documents suggest that Eddie, Mary, Lillian, and Lily's father, Fun-Kum-Liu Ah-Nee, may have called himself "Adams."  Can anyone confirm this?

The name, Lily Adams, does not show up anywhere in the 1920 Federal Census. According to several submissions to the LDS church that now appear on the FamilySearch site, Lily changed her name to either "Lily or Myra" or "Lillie or Myrna" and married "George or Charles Kekoa or Liu."  Why all the name changes?

Does anyone have any information regarding Fun-Kum-Liu Ah-Nee?  His first name is sometimes spelled, in the censuses, "Fan Kam."
