The original registers for this period exist in the Dorset Registry Office & there appear to be some transcription errors between those records and the Bishops Transcripts transcribed here which were done in some cases several years later by the vicar. The originals still need to be transcribed, any additional information added including missing years, and corrections made where appropriate. 

Readers are reminded that each year started on 25 th March not the 1 st January [ up until 1752]so January and February Christenings for example will appear at the end of the year

NOTE : Unfortunately we do not have Bishops Transcripts for the year 1752 for Fordington but in case the original records survive please also note that this was the year that the English Calendar was changed from the Julian to the more accurate Gregorian system that had been introduced in Catholic countries by Pope Gregory XIII in March 1582. A difference of eleven days had accumulated between the two systems so the change necessitated England 's calendar losing that number of days. To bring this about the day following 2 nd September 1752 was renumbered the 14 th .

The commencement of the year was also brought forward from 25 th March to the preceding 1 st January. This changed January, February and most of March from being the last months of the Old Year to the first of the New.
