Mrs. W. K. Brown Laid to Rest Friday Afternoon

Millington - Funeral services for Mrs. W. K. Brown were held on Friday afternoon at 1:30, at the late home in Millington, the Rev. James H. Hagerty, pastor of the Methodist Church officiating.

Mrs. Brown died Tuesday night after a years illness.

Vashti Perham was born in England on October 13, 1859 and was married to W. K. Brown September 16, 1880, in England. In 1883, accompanied by their two year old son, E. William, they came to America and settled at Dayton, Illinois, later moving to a farm six miles southwest of Newark, where they resided until moving to Millington in 1916.

Besides her husband she leaves seven children, one daughter, Anna, having died at the age of 13. Those left to mourn are Mrs. Florence Thomas, of Genoa, Mrs. Bessie Brown, of Plano, James, of Newark, E. William, John, Robert and Mrs. Gladys Kratzer, of Millington. Seventeen grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren also survive.

Mrs. Brown's life centered around her home and family. She was a loving mother and throughout he sickness, during which she was in pain a great deal, she remained cheerful until the last. On her birthday anniversary, which occurred the week before her death, her many friends sent her many beautiful cards, which she greatly enjoyed.

Pall-bearers at the funeral were Albert Hartman, R. W. Scroggin, Alfred Vickery, Herman Eiechstad, Robert Petty and Fred Leonard. Mrs. Roy Holverson and Miss Marie Peterson, accompanied at the piano by Miss Mina Koska, sang two duets, and Mrs. George Wilson sang a solo, accompanied at the piano by Mrs. A. E. Hartman. Burial was in the Millington-Newark Cemetery.

Brown were , Mr. and Mrs. Jewel Thomas of Genoa, Mr. and Mrs. Gus Miller of Marengo, Mr. and Mrs. Connie Kneppwrath, of Garden Prairie, and Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Thoms and Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur Bark, of Hinckley., Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Biehl, Robert Brown and Miss Esther Dunnheimer of Aurora, Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Dahl of Lisbon, Mr. and Mrs. Old Brown and family of Plano and John Milligan of Chicago, also many friends from Newark.
