Samuel Foster Benton Dies At the Home of His Son

Samuel Foster Benton, aged 78, died at 10:30 last evening at the home of his son, W.C. Benton of route four, following an illness due to paralysis and pneumonia. He had been in failing health for eight years and bedfast for the past nine days. He was a native of Virginia, but moved to Indiana in 1876, and moved to Greene County in 1884. He was engaged in farming.
Funeral services will be conducted at three o'clock this afternoon from the New Friendship church and burial will be made in the New Friendship cemetery. The Rev. R.C. Rogers, Baptist minister, will officiate.
Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Sarah Benton; two daughters, Mrs. D.A. Crafton of route six, and Mrs. Curt Roe of Arbyrd, Mo.; two sons, W.D. Benton of route four, and Ed Benton of this city; 16 grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
