Rube Estes

Rube Estes, son of the late Barry and Rebecca Hammonds Estes, was born March 5, 1901, in Brilliant, Ala. and died April 25, 1991, at the Piggott Hospital.

He was united in marriage to Ethel Roden. To this union four children were born. She preceded him in death. He married Dollie Gregory on Jan. 24, 1954, and she preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by one infant son, Ralph, one daughter, Helen Risenor; five brothers and two sisters.

He is survived by two sons, Taft Estes of Piggott and Ray Estes of Santa Cruz, Calif.; two step daughters, Velma Manigold and Betty Tonkins of Michigan; five grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, eight step grandchildren, 13 step great grandchildren and other relatives and friends.

Be became a Christian in 1923 and was a long time member of the South Thornton Church of Christ.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 27 at the Thornton Street Church of Christ with Frank Bellizzi officiating. Interment was in Mitchell Cemetery with Hoggard and Sons Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Pallbearers were David Landrum, Bob Johnson, Leland Gibson, Rual Coomer, Lloyd Cox and Delbert Sample.

Honorary pallbearers were Paul Coffell, Willard Neeley, Cleaon Neeley, Charles Minson, Charles Sharradon, Dink Hitt, Lloyd Russell, Jess Cullum and Donnie Blake.
