Julia Newtson Gravely
Funeral services were held for Mrs. Julia Gravley Friday afternoon at 1:30 in the Larson Funeral Home and at 2 from the Newark Lutheran Church. Burial was made in the Millington-Newark cemetery. Services were conducted by the Rev. A. E. Windahl. Clarence J Vogen sang at the chapel and at the church, accompanied by Miss Eleanor Vogen. Pall bearers were Leslie and Harold Hextell, Donald Gravley, Clair and Stanley Munson and Lewis Dierzen.

Mrs. Gravley was born in Etne, Norway, February 15, 1850, and died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Anna Nelson, Tuesday evening at 8 o'clock. She was up and about the home until four days before her death. She came to America with her parents, Gilbert and Anna Newtson at the age of 15 years and lived in Kendall county for 80 years, mostly in the vicinity of Newark.
She was united in marriage with Lewis S. Gravley on February 15, 1876. He preceded her in death on September 2, 1939. A son Knute Gravley also preceded her in death.
Mrs. Gravley was a member of the Newark Lutheran Church and the Mission Society. She is survived by one son, Severt of Newark, six daughters, Mrs. Bird Dierzen, Mrs. Anna Nelson, Mrs. Maggie Munson, Mrs. Letty Anderson all of Newark, and Mrs. Sadie Brown of Plano and Mrs. Ellen Hextell of Yorkville. 20 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren.
