WILLIAM FRANKLIN RODEN

William Franklin Roden was born June 3, 1876 in Winston County, Alabama, and departed this life December 7, 1955 at the age of 79 years, 6 months and 3 days.

He was united in marriage to Mollie Self, May 30, 1897. She preceded him in death February 18, 1954. To this union were born four sons and three daughters. One son and one daughter preceded him in death. Surviving are three sons, Luther and William of Greenway, and Jack of Paragould; two daughters, Mrs. Will Harris of Voncouver, Wash., and Mrs. Rosa Huff of Piggott. Also surviving are 16 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren and 1 great, great grandchild; two sisters and a host of relatives and friends.

He obeyed the Gospel at an early age. His membership has been with the Pleasant Valley congregation of the Church of Christ for the past 25 years.

He was a man who enjoyed pioneering and traveling. He made one trip to Oklahoma from Alabama in the arly 1900's by covered wagon with his family. After two years he returned to Alabama.

In 1924 he brought his family to Arkansas but returned to Alabama the following year. In 1929 he came back to Arkansas and remained until the time of his death. During all these years he has lived within a few miles of Pleasant Valley.

Bro. Roden was a man who loved his home and enjoyed staying close to his wife and children.

Funeral services were conducted by Bro. Harlan Hurd assisted by Bro. Hubert Flynt at the Pleasant Valley Church of Christ at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 8, 1955. Burial was in the Mitchell Cemetery with Russell Mortuary in charge of arrangements.
