Anna Alvsdatter Hamre Newtson
The vunerable widow of the late Gulick Knudson, one of the good old mothers with a long and useful career, passed suddenly away early last Tuesday morning in her 88th year, at her old home north and west of this villlage, where she had lived many years, where her family of ten sons and daughters were reared to man and womanhood, all going out into the world, leaving her alone, save the presence of one daughter. She was a wonderfully rugged mother, never knowing a sick day only at such times as when she welcomed a new baby and when she reached the end of life only a moment of suffering was realized and all was over. Her funeral occurred at the Helmar Church Friday and was largely attended. Her surviving sons and daughters were all present. The surviving eight, George of Chicago, Oscar, John, and Eli, residents of this community; Mrs. Lewis Gravley of Big Grove; Mrs. Soren Osman out west and two other daughters.
