York County Deeds, Book B, page 291. Robert McPherson, Sheriff to Philip Wentz.
Deed dated Feb. 6, 1764 and recorded April 3, 1764; Philip Wentz of Manchester Twp., buys 300 acres (more or less) of land in Manchester Twp. at a sheriff sale (est. of George Hoke) for 84 pds & 10 shillings. This improvement and tract adjoins the lands of Martin Risinger, Valentine Hamme, Michael Berkel and Peter Bansz.
This parcel of land is the present site of Weiglestown Elementary School on the east side of Route 74, between York and Dover.
Per Philip's will which was written in February 1795, his wife Anna Marie is to remain on this said plantation, along with the children. It is not to be sold. Anna Marie is to have all rights and priviledges; until son Peter arrives at the age of 21years or so long as she remains a widow in Philip's name.
It appears that this tract of land was surveyed on 10 August 1802, at the request of the Heirs of Philip Wentz, dec'd. by Virtue of their Improvement. It was found to contain 242.120 acres. Also it appears that it was sold to Adam Rebart/Ruppert. He is listed as the Patentee. A date of 13 Nov 1809 is the date of the Return.
The 3rd Admin. Account of Philip's estate was filed in April 1809 by Henry Wentz and Barnet Holtzapfel. This document reports the sale of the Plantation at public vendue according to the directions of the will of said Philip Wentz, in November 1808 to Adam Ruppart for 2500 pounds, with the first payment of 800 pounds due the first day of April 1809 and from then on, a yearly sum of 75 (or 750) pounds.
York County Deeds, Book 2K, page 257.
Deed dated 17 January 1795 and recorded February 5, 1795; #2K-257: Philip Wentz buys from the estate of Erasmus Holtzapple dec'd, the elder (his father-in-law) 235 acres of land in Manchester Twp. at a public sale for 1550 pounds. This parcel was, according to the last will and Testament of Erasmus Holtzapfel, the dwelling Plantation of Erasmus Holtzapfel, the elder. This land was warranted from the late Proprietaries of Pennsylvania on 3 April 1767, in Philadelphia; it was surveyed and laid out for the said Erasmus Holtzapfel and it adjoined the lands of Henry Wolf, Philip Hains, Senior, Martin Bower, Martin Weigle, Philip Hose and Adam Fackler.
Per Philip's will which was written in February 1795; this tract of land, "plantation in Manchester Township,...bought for fifteen hundred and fifty pounds" may be sold anytime after his decease and the arrival of the age of his son, Peter. Per an Admin. Account of Philip's estate which was filed September 28, 1796; this plantation was sold on 5 May 1795 for the sum of 1550 pounds to Frederick Huber/Hoover. Terms of sale: 300 pounds in hand and the remainder due in yearly payments of 60 pounds each, except the last payment, which will be due 1 April 1816, will be 50 pounds.
