With special thanks to Teresa Wadman of Weston-Super-Mare, UK for providing the following monumental inscriptions from gravestones at Bow Cemetery.


Gravestone

The following inscription was on a stone that looked to be of slate, with a beautiful angel with outstretched wings carved at the top.

Here lyeth in hope of joyful reincarnation the body of Margaret ye daughter of
Edward and Catherine MAY who was buried 12 April 1743, age 2

Ab-- WOODMAN died 10 January 1888, age 31

Mary POWESLAND died 21 May 1895, age 73

George POWESLAND died 5? September 1901, aged 80

Jane Tremlet COOMBE died 21 November 1921

Richard HEARD died 7 March 1869 ,age 75
and his wife
Elizabeth HEARD, who died 24 November 1870, age 70

Charlotte HEARD who departed this life 17 April 1890, age 60

Elizabeth BATTERHILL who died 3 April 1880/1886?, age 72
and her daughter
Elizabeth ROUTLEY who died 27 December 1859, age 32
