To reach this cemetery from Hillham, Indiana take Hillham Norton Rd South 3/4 mi to CR 875 N CR 875 ends 1/8 mile at farm gate. The cemetery is located approx 1/2 mi east on private land, permission is needed to visit from the land owner.

The cemetery is kept accessible and mowed by the current land owner, David H Harrison, but the stones are rapidly deteriorating. When I visited the site in 2005, Mr. Harrison told me that as a boy, he remembered a large area of the cemetery, now all grass, being decorated with flags each Memorial Day. Over the years, he said, the practice stopped. The cemetery is located about ½ mile from the first farm gate.

No one seems to know much of the history of the site. It is located, most probably, on land originally owned by Edward “Neddy” Pace, a brother of Margery Wininger (Pace), wife of George Washington Wininger. Pace children were among the first to be buried here.

I visited and photographed this cemetery site on two occasions, November 2005 and April 2006. George W Milburn, a grandson of George Washington Wininger, who is buried there, created the original transcription of the site in 1933. In the 70+ years between, some of the markers he recorded have disappeared. In those instances, his information is included, and so noted.
