1939 news headline Father Makes A New Appeal in Mystery of Broken Home - daughter missing, wife died of grief

Georgia May DAVIS missing since April 1, 1939, from Charleroi Mail newspaper, Aug-1-1939-pg2 UNIONTOWN PA., Aug. 1 -- Grief-stricken in the mysterious disappearance of his daughter, Georgia [DAVIS] May 18 [1939], and the death of his wife, who worried herself to death over the girl's absence, Clyde DAVIS of near Smithfield, has asked officers to make a renewed attempt to locate the girl.

Mr. and Mrs. DAVIS and Georgia came to Uniontown last April 1, on a shopping expedition.  Georgia May [DAVIS] left them afer arranging to meet her parents at a certain store at a given time.  She failed to appear, and from that time, no word has been received from her.  No trace was reported.

Six weeks later her mother died.  A pathetic appeal was made for her to return to attend the funeral services.  There was no response.  It is believed that the girl was a victim of foul play or was seized by white slaves.

Georgia May [DAVIS]
