| Jan. 19, 1961 MR. AND MRS. WILLIAM C. SCHUMACHER Mr. and Mrs. William C. SCHUMACHER of Champion Hill, R. D. 1, McDonald, observed their 50th wedding anniversary January 9. They were guests of honor at an open house January 8 in their home, with 45 guests in attendance including their family and friends. They received a number of gifts. Mr. and Mrs. SCHUMACHER were united in marriage January 9, 1911 in St. Patrick's R. C. Church, Noblestown [Pa]. They are the parents of five children--a son, Carl of R. D. 1, McDonald; and four daughters, Mrs. Marcella NICKSICK of McDonald, Mrs. Arthur RANK of Sturgeon, Mrs. Nick PALAMARAS of Cambridge, Md., and Mrs. Robert KADYK of Harmarville. There are eight grandchildren and four great- grandchildren. |
| January 19, 1961 MCDONALD COUPLE HAVE 55TH ANNIVERSARY
Mr. and Mrs. Odilon BASTIDE of Barr street, McDonald, celebrated their
55th wedding anniversary January 11. They received flowers and gifts.
Lunch was served with a decorated cake as the table centerpiece. Their
children are Mrs. James CREA of McDonald, and Mrs. Ora GRUBBS and Mrs.
Gilbert BONNAURE of Sturgeon. The late Odilon BASTIDE, Jr., of McDonald
was their son. |
| February 7, 1963 Three Area Couples Have 50th Anniversaries Bowls of yellow cut flowers and a three-tier golden wedding anniversary cake were part of the setting for the open house reception honoring Mr. and Mrs. Emil JORDAN January 29 in their home in Dickson street, Midway, on the occasion of their 50th wedding anniversary. A white-and-gold color scheme was carried out in the decorations and appointments. Mrs. JORDAN wore a print dress for the occasion and her children
presented her with a corsage of yellow rosebuds. The couple's four
children and their families were present. The couple received 200 cards and despite the inclement weather, over
150 relatives and friends arrived during the day bearing gifts and
congratulatory messages. Clela RUDY and Emil JORDAN were married January 29, 1913, in the house in which they now reside, by the Rev. Edgar V. SHOTWELL, at that time pastor of the Midway Methodist Church. They were attended by the late Miss Grace RUDY, sister of the bride, and Jack SAWHILL of Midway, as best man. Mrs. JORDAN has been a resident of Midway [Pa] since 1907 and Mr. JORDAN has resided in Midway since he was two years old. They are member of the Center U. P. church and Mrs. JORDAN is a
member of the Women's Missionary, the Women's Association and the
Golden Age group of which she is the shut-in secretary. Her hobby is
sending birthday and get-well cards and various other tokens to her
acquaintances. Others attending the breakfast were Mrs. Sarah FISHER, Mrs. Charlotte MANGAN, and Miss Jean CARTER. A reception was held in the afternoon in St. Patrick's Hall, where
Mr. and Mrs. SCOTT greeted their friends. Present were Mr. and Mrs. Clifford NELSON and daughter Cheryl of Coraopolis and Mr. and Mrs. Donald NELSON. The NELSONs spoke, by phone with their daughter, Mrs. Mickey BODWELL and family, and son, Jack NELSON in Northridge, Calif. Friends visited during the day and the NELSONs received a number of
cards, gifts, and flowers. |
| March 7, 1963 McDonald PA Record-Outlook McDonald Couple to Observe 58th Mr. and Mrs. Edward PLANCE of Brook street, McDonald, will observe their 58th wedding anniversary March 7. Mrs. PLANCE will celebrate her 79th birthday on March 15. Mr. PLANCE is a retired coal miner. They have five children, Mrs. Sterling SCHWAB of Bulger, Mrs. James AUGUSTINE of Valley street, McDonald, Mrs. Wilber BYKENS and Mrs. Gilbert HANNAN of Primrose, and Mrs. Clyde HALLAM of Monongahela. There are 18 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren. |
