Sitting in the dark room measuring less than a 5ft.x8ft.
bedroom, my sister Cathy would sit in front of the old microfilm machine at
Citizen's Library, turning page by page as she tried to find obituaries and
articles on our families. The work was hard on the eyes, and expensive for
the pocketbook. When uncertain that we could use the item and short on
money, Cathy would just use paper and pen to note a "surname of
interest," along with the citation.
I do not know what the full articles contain, other than the
surname listed. Also, some microfilm (or Xeroxes, or both) are so blurred
or blackened that it is impossible to read the dates.
