Patrick Fitzpatrick, born 17 March 1841**
in ??
Queen's County (Laois) Ireland; died 08 April 1914 in Muskegon, Muskegon Co., MI.
**The year of his birth is in
question. His death certificate indicates that he was born in 1841.
However, the 1880 and 1900 Muskegon Co. census records indicate he was
born around 1847-1848.
He
married Anna Bergin August 18, 1873 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Troy, N Y. Copy
of marriage record:
Original Latin register Translated
certificate:

Two of Patrick's brothers lived in New
York. James Fitzpatrick (of Buffalo, NY) and Daniel Fitzpatrick (of Troy, NY). His sister, Katherine
Fitzpatrick, lived in Ireland. Their parents were Daniel
Fitzpatrick and Margaret Mara of Errill, County Laois, Ireland.
Anna Bergin, born 08 March 1852 in
Ballybrophy, Queen's County, (Laois) Ireland; died 13 January 1914 in Muskegon, Muskegon
Co., MI. She is the daughter of James
Bergin and the half-sister of Patrick
Bergin (who married Patrick Fitzpatrick's sister, Katherine Fitzpatrick).
Anna came to
the U.S. through New York City on August 13, 1873 on a ship called the "City of
London." The ship originated in Liverpool and then picked up more
passengers in Queenstown, Ireland.
Patrick's brother Daniel is also believed to be on this ship. According to
the 1900 Muskegon Co. census, Patrick says he immigrated in 1869. However,
there is also a "Pat Fitzpatrick age 26" on this ship's list;
perhaps Patrick returned to Ireland to bring Anna Bergin and Daniel
Fitzpatrick back with him. A copy of the passenger list follows:

About 1963 Barbara Cole Holmes, wife of Joseph
W. Holmes had a conversation with Elizabeth Fitzpatrick about her parents. She said:
"Patrick Fitzpatrick and Anne Bergin knew
each other in Queen's County, Ireland. Patrick immigrated to America and when he had
enough money he sent for Anne. Anne's parents had died when she was young and she lived
with relatives. Anne was born in Ballybrophy in Queen's County. After Anne arrived in New
York the two were married in Poughkeepsie, NY and then they later moved to Kalamazoo
and Muskegon, MI. Patrick immigrated with two brothers James and John. John returned to
Ireland and James lived in New York."
