His DNA results matched the DNA of one other participant in the study. These results indicate that there is a 50/50 chance we will find a common ancestor with that participant in the past 6.5 generations. Because the odds are 50/50 at the 6.5 generational history, it is important to remember that our common ancestor could be further back than 6.5 generations; however, we certainly hope the results will give us new leads into our Fitzpatrick ancestry! His DNA results were also within one or two matching markers of many other people in the study, indicating that we probably share ancestors with them around the 16th generation or further back.
