Jacob Conrad d. 1824
In
the name of God Amen. I Jacob Conrad Jr., of
First
after my decease, I request that I may be buried in a descent manner at the
description of my Executor hereafter named that all my just debts, if any, be
paid out of my personal estate.
2nd
I will to my son Ulrick Conrod and his heirs forever, the plantation I now
live on and all my out land between this and the South Fork, and my smith tools
and the stove in both houses, a cross cut and hand saws, on his paying one
hundred pounds to his brothers and sisters at the expiration of two years after
my decease.
3rd
I will and bequeath to my son Jacob Conrod Jr.,
and his heirs forever, all the land I own on the North Fork and the waters
thereof be the same more or less and a small track on Reed Creek which I
purchased of Leonard Bush, on his paying fifty pounds within five years after
my decease to his brothers and sister.
4th
I will and bequeath unto my son Benjamin Conrod
and to his heirs forever, the house he now lives and the Little Kanawha called
Poplar Bottom, and the little
bottom below it, and also twenty five acres on the North East side of the river
as adjoining my lower line. Also 200
acres of land in the
5th
I give to my son Daniel, and to his heirs
forever, a tract of land that he now lives on, being part of the Bulltown
Track, containing one hundred acres and seventy-five more or less, the river to
be the line between him and his brother John and
of the tract on which said Daniel now lives.
Also 55 acres of land adjoining Benjamin Conrod on the
6th
I give and bequeath to my son John Conrod and
his heirs forever, the plantation he now lives on being part of the BullTown
Tract and the upper part of the Long Bottom and to be equally divided between
them according to quantity and quality, and a Negro boy named Jesse to the said
John Conrod.
7th
I will and bequeath to my son Peter Conrod and
his heirs forever, the plantation on which he lives on in

I will and bequeath to my daughter, Sabina Colip,
and her heirs forever, the plantation on which she now lives in this county and
a Negro woman named Hannah, and also a bond that I had against her husband and one hundred and fifty dollars out of
my personal estate.
9th
I will and bequeath unto the children of my daughter
Frany Coil, a bond I hold on their father for 400 acres of just note
land on the West of the Ohio River and a bond for $250.00 which was given for a
Negro girl called Peggy and also three notes one on ______Harper daughter and
two on Rebecca Dyer and one hundred and fifty dollars to be paid by my Executory,
out of my personal estate.
10th
I will and bequeath to my daughter Barbara Harper
besides what I have given her a note on Joshea and Thomas Woods for $159.00 and
$41.00 to be paid her by my Executor out of my personal estate.
11th
I give to my daughter Phebe Coil's children
little bond on their father for the tract of land on which he lives and also
three black children now in their fathers possession but this bequeath to
Coil's children is not to take effect until after the death of said Samuel Coil, and sixty dollars to be paid by my
Executor out of my personal estate.
12th
I will and bequeath to my daughter Mary Coil's
children, all the land I own in Buffalo Hills and a tract of about 50 acres on
Reeds Creek which I bought of Thomas Cook and one hundred dollars to be paid by
my Executor out of my personal estate.
Any
bond I have for any Propts, (Propts) I won of my late wife, or any of my own
sons, it is my will that they are only to pay the principle and are not to be
charged with interest.
Any
land I own or possess not herein divided I wish to be sold at Public Sale by my
Executor or said term of credit as they may think best but they are to give all
their brothers notice before the sale.
I
also direct that all my moveable estate also be sold at Public Sale and the
monies arriving therefrom as well as the money owing from the sale of my
undivided land, to be equally divided amongst my five sons or their heirs. (My daughters or their heirs to have no part
thereof) after paying the sums herein bequeathed.
It
is my will and desire if my Mulatto girl named Sally____behave herself from
this time henceforth until my death will that at my decease her and her child
shall be free and I will and bequeath to her one bay mare and one cow, her
spinning wheel and bed in the little room.
And
lastly, I appoint my sons Jacob and Ulrick Conrod
Executors of this my last will and testement hereby notifying this and no other
as and my last will and given under my hand and seal this ____day of September
1824.
Whereas
it appears that Mulatto girl Sally above is at this time pregnant with a child
and as I have willed her and her child she then had should be free, at my
death, hereby declare it to be my further will the child with which she is now
pregnant shall also be free and I also will in the case of her death, to the
children, the sum of fifty dollars to be paid by my Executor-signed and sealed
in the presence of T.Dyer.
