My Beginnings
This website is the
result of years of research, started by my sister-in-law in 1973. Actually, we all thought she was nuts
when she kept bugging everyone in the family about our surnames. She would blurt out stories about so and
so and was so enthused about what little tid-bits
of information she knew about people who were so long dead, no one had a
clue as to whom she was speaking! I listened to the
stories and remembered most of the names making mental notes (way, way back
in my brain.) In 1973, I was just
starting to raise my own family and did not have time to pursue this
hobby. I was doing well enough to
work, continue my education and get by with just a few hours of sleep! I was too busy trying to find names for
the three children I had in three years, much less trying to find names of
my ancestors who had been dead for hundreds of years. My sister-in-law
continued to work on her favorite hobby.
(She only had one child and must have had more time than I
did.) Needless to say, somewhere
down the road, she started being successful with her own direct lines and
decided to leave her husbands family to someone from the Hudson-Bone
side. This is where I entered the
picture. She proudly handed me
several boxes containing organized file folders with outlines in very neat
handwriting, old newspapers clippings, photographs, death certificates, and
several historical publications. I
must admit, the boxes sat for some time.
I just did not want to dig into them to see what was there. Eventually, I did and that is really the
beginning of the story. What you find on the
pages of this website is a compilation of my madness. It is the beginning of my own demise and
probably the one thing I will be most remembered for and not in my lifetime. However, those who follow this crazy
hobby will appreciate it. My
children may never read these pages and no one close to me now has a clue
at what madness runs through my brain. I do know there are
many others who share this hobby.
The following material would not be possible if it were not for
their sickness too. So, to my
sister-in-in law, thank you for starting me on this quest and to the many,
many, fellow Coil, Kile and Kyle cousins---THANK
YOU for your support. None of this
would have been possible if you were not so willing to share and learn!
