1850 Census: estate worth 3000 dollars; also living with the young family is a 21 year old merchant named James R. Hunt from Georgia and a 13 year old female named Laura Hunt from Georgia.
In 1850, lived in Washington County, Georgia. Washington County was created from Creek and Cherokee land cessions, and was the first in the nation to be named for President George Washington. Its first settlers were Revolutionary War veterans, who were given land grants for their service to the country. He was a “factor”.
